Inspired by the enchanting phrases of the Ukrainian folk song “Shchedryk,” known to many as “Carol of the Bells,” I created a piece that captures the renewed energy of people emerging from the pandemic. This song paints a hopeful picture of a world blessed by Christmas, where the spirit of new beginnings gently descends upon the earth.
Imagine our line of hope, “nozomi” connecting us across places and times, linking us one by one.
The journey begins deep in a forest where snow quietly blankets the ground, reminiscent of a fairy tale. Midway, the scene shifts to an urban waterfront, culminating in a grand finale where each instrument passes on its melody, symbolizing the passage of generations. The piece transitions seamlessly into a jingle heralding the dawn of the future.
It’s a bit longer in length, but I invite you to listen as if you were on a journey aboard the Shinkansen, gazing leisurely out the window at the fast-moving scenery.
The song is titled “nozomi ‘wishesliner’”(carol of the bells).
You can get an exclusive first listen on s-ikt’s official YouTube channel. Starting December 2023, it will be available for purchase and streaming on over 20 major music apps and platforms worldwide, including Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
Drifted down to the ground.
Waltz of the snowflakes.
Whispering.

nozomi “wishesliner”
( carol of the bells )
I reside on the far side of this vast Earth,
A place unknown, where anonymity finds its worth.
Yet, even for me, from the sky, snowflakes descend,
Announcing Christmas, a celebration that knows no end.
In a world yet unseen, where paths have not crossed,
Christmas arrives for you, no matter the cost.
Its blessings, you see,
Are for someone you hold dear.
Merry Christmas, my love, spreading joy far and near.
